My Reflection

IALT create an advertisement for friendship.

I found this a bit tricky because it was kind of hard creating a slogan/tagline for a friendship advertisement.

My next step is to create professional advertisements for companies.

Camp Chant

My Reflection

I am learning the Camp MERC Chant. The year 6 students learnt it at camp.

I found the chant a bit tricky because of all of the clapping motions and the snapping.

My next step is to do it really fast.

Camp MERC Haiku

My Reflection 

I am learning to write a haiku about our camp. 

I found this tricky because it was a bit hard to find sentences or phrases about our camp.

My next step is to write a haiku about a different topic and the haiku requires more phrases.

Find a Unit of a Fraction

My Reflection

I am learning to find a unit of a fraction where the numerator is larger than 1.
I found this quite easy since I know my multiplication tables off by heart and I also know a good and reliable strategy to find a unit.
My next step is to find a unit of a fraction where the numerator is larger than the denominator.

Flora And Fauna

My Reflection

WALT investigate to answer our questions about flora and fauna.

I found this activity a bit tricky considering I am allergic to pollen so I do not go near many plants so my knowledge about them is kind of low but using the internet I managed just fine.

My next step is to research more about Flora to grow my knowledge.

Making Predictions

My Reflection 

I am learning to make justified predictions to a story. 

I found this activity easy because the pictures gave a lot away so it wasn't that hard but still, I got a prediction wrong . 

My next step is to predict a story without pictures so that I will read the words with deeper understanding of the characters.

Basic Facts Progress

My Reflection

IALT improve my basic facts. I found today's test easy because basic facts are not a problem for me and I will say that I am pretty good at my basic facts.

I am a bit disappointed at my score because I got 99 out of 100 because my pencil led broke when I was at question 96 and there was only 8 seconds left.

My next step is to try get 100% while using a pencil that wont let me down during my test by breaking.  

Connections To Self, Text And World

My Reflection

I am learning to make text to self, text to text and text to world connections.

I found this just challenging enough because I don't play rugby but I play cricket and they are not similar sports, but I managed to connect.

My next step is to try and connect to topics I am not that familiar with. 

Making Predictions

My Reflection
We are learning how to make justified predictions in a story.
This activity was easy for me since I always make predictions when I read novels so I am quite good at predicting what will happen.
My next step is to try predict what will happen in long stories.

My Basic Facts Results

My Reflection 

I have been learning to improve my basic facts. 

These are my basic fact results for homework. 

I feel disappointed in myself for not improving, instead going down even though it was only 3 answers I still feel disappointed.

My next step is to learn more division. 

Limerick Poem

Room 20 have been doing limerick poems. I did one on cricket because I am a big fan and the same things have happened to me so the limerick feels special to me. I enjoyed doing this very much because we we had to create our own unique limerick poems.

The Whale Rider Character Traits

 My Reflection

Room 20 have been reading The Whale Rider. We had to do a character trait activity in which we have to choose a character and describe them the best we can. I picked Nanny Flowers because she kinda resembles me she is independent and strong. I found this activity easy because when we read the book you get a picture of all the characters in your head because the author is very descriptive. My next step is to pick someone who I am not very familiar with to challenge myself.

My Welcome Post 2019

Welcome to my Year 6 learning blog. This year I am in Room 20 and my teacher is Miss Wolstenholme. I enjoy playing cricket, in fact I play for HPCC and have won 4 series. I also enjoy reading detective novels alone. My goal for 2019 is to get better in writing in paragraphs. I hope you will enjoy my blogs and leave a lot of feedback.
