Polyhedra

My Reflection

I am learning to construct polyhedra. it was easy to build the square based pyramid. David helped me construct the cube. I can now explain the features of polyhedra. Next time i will construct a octahedron!!

Six Sentence Story

My Reflection

I am learning  to write a six sentence narrative. I am most proud of my hook because I used a lot of adjectives to describe Lloyd's father. My next step is to write another six sentence narrative about another character.

Author's Purpose

It was easy to find out the author's purpose because the illustrations helped. I also read the text carefully. My next step is learning step is to identify the author's purpose in non-fiction texts.

Radial Relief Art

I am proud of my radial relief art because it is really colorful and because it is simply amazing.

I like my design because it is symmetrical and it looks really satisfying

Fractions

I am learning to solve fractions problems using multiplication and division strategies.

I can use my basic fact knowledge to solve these problems.

My next step is to use this knowledge to solve more complicated problems.

Persuasive Writing

I am learning to write a persuasive speech. 

I am most proud of my topic choice and my hook.

My next step is to use more linking words so that my writing flows better.

Extending Knowledge at Vocabulary.

My Reflection

I am learning to extend my knowledge of vocabulary. 

It was helpful to use the dictionary because it gave me the definition of the word; and it helped to read in a sentence. 

My next step is to carry on using the dictionary and reading the word in context

because it helped me to understand the meaning of new words.

Explanation Writing

I am learning to write a detailed explanation.

I did well at using detail in my writing.

My next step is to write a more detailed explanation.

Bike Skills

Bike skills is a really cool way to learn how to ride a bike, plus it is really fun!!

Extending Vocabulary

My Reflection

I am learning to extend my vocabulary.

It helped when I used the dictionary and read the story

 to get a better meaning of the words.

Next I should look up the meaning of unfamiliar words.   

Solving Multiplication Problems

                    I am learning to solve multiplication problems.

                            I used my basic facts to help me work out my answers.

                         I also used compensation to solve problems like this.

                              My next step is to solve harder questions.

                          

Interpreting Graphic Features

My Reflection

I am learning to understand information by interpreting graphic features of text.

It was a bit tricky because I had to read carefully to find a good caption. 

My next step would be to read more texts with graphic features.

Explanation Writing

I am learning to write an explanation.

I was able to give a title to my explanation.

My next step is to write a more complicated and detailed explanation!

Summarising

My Reflection
I am learning to summarise information by choosing the important information in the text.
This learning was tricky because there were new words and I had to look up the meaning of the new words.
It was helpful having a buddy and teacher to work with.
My next learning step is to summarise other texts on my own

Welcome to my learning blog.  This year I am in room 23 and my teacher is Mrs Venter.  My goal this year is to get 70 ticks.  I am looking forward to going on a trip with my new class!  I hope you will enjoy my blog.  Please leave some feedback!
